The FDZ in easy-to-read language

Welcome to the website of the FDZ at the IQB!

IQB is the German abbreviation of our name: Institut zur Qualitätsentwicklung im Bildungswesen e. V. (Institute for Educational Quality Improvement)

FDZ is the German abbreviation for research data centre (RDC in English).

Around 15 people work at the FDZ.

However, we also collaborate with other research data centres.

What are we doing? đź”—

The FDZ at the IQB helps researchers work with data. Our data provides information about what students in Germany know and can do. This information helps to improve learning in schools.

Our tasks đź”—

  • We store and protect the data.
  • We describe the data in great detail.
  • We share the data with researchers.
  • We give advice on working with the data.

Who can use our data? đź”—

  • Researchers
  • Students

For some data, you have to make a request. For other data, it is enough to register online.

Why is our work important? đź”—

Researchers need a lot of information to understand things. This helps them learn new things. We give researchers our data for this work. The researchers look at our data and think about it. When they are finished, they can make suggestions to improve teaching in schools.
