Open Science
What do we mean by good scientific practice? 🔗
Good scientific practice ensures that scientific work is trustworthy, transparent and ethically responsible. The Research Data Centre at the IQB supports these standards by promoting open science, e.g. through access to anonymised research data sets and the development of tools for fair and sustainable research data management.
Here we answer three frequently asked questions about open science.
Can I pre-register my project at the Research Data Centre at the IQB? 🔗
No, we do not currently offer a standardised pre-registration procedure. You can submit pre-registrations of research plans to the following platforms, for example:
- Open Science Framework
- AsPredicted
- PreReg in Psychology
However, we are happy to confirm the date on which you requested your data and/or the date on which the FDZ transferred your data to you.
I am having difficulty replicating the results using the FDZ data at the IQB. What can I do? 🔗
We have had similar experiences in our Meta-Rep project. Many studies are not yet written in a way that makes reproduction and replication easy. Write to us! We will be happy to carry out research for you in the study documents, original data or, if necessary, with study participants.
I would like to receive an Open Data Badge for my publication. Is the data from the FDZ at the IQB suitable for this? 🔗
In principle, the FDZ data at the IQB is available to all researchers and thus meets the requirements for open data. Since we conclude data usage agreements, a strict interpretation of the open data principle may require further clarification. In such cases, we will be happy to assist you. Please contact us.
